Having a playground or swing set in your backyard is a great way for kids to get exercise and plenty of fresh air, and helps to keep them occupied when you as a parent or grandparent are looking for a little peace and quiet. These are just some of the benefits that come from having playground equipment on your property. However, as with most things around your home, it’s important to keep your playground equipment in good, safe working condition.

Some ways to do this include giving playground equipment a brief inspection. Are nuts and bolts securely in place, and capped, if possible? Are there any potential pinch points, damaged materials, or rust? Are swings at least 24 inches apart from each other, and at least 30 inches away from the frame? Is the ground under and around the equipment covered with sand, mulch, or some other soft material that can protect your tiny loved ones?
