We all know what goes on in the bathroom. We won’t go into detail, but nearly all activities that happen in your bathroom involve a lot of water use. Because of all that water, the bathroom is typically the first place mold loves to grow in most homes. Mold-feeding moisture can come from almost every corner of the bathroom – lingering dampness in the air from a long, hot shower, or leaky plumbing fixtures, or damp towels sitting around, or old wallpaper that has captured years of humidity.

One important way to fight all that lingering moisture and fight mold growth is to keep your bathroom well-ventilated. If there’s a window in your bathroom, open it wide when the weather outside is dry. If you have an exhaust fan, make sure it has plenty of time to run after you take a shower. And, of course, the exhaust fan will only be useful if it’s cleaned and well-maintained.
