While it’s true that many Americans spend a large portion of their time indoors, this seems to have been especially true in the last year or so for reasons that we don’t need to rehash. Time spent indoors can have a serious effect on a person, particularly when it comes to the air we breathe. You may find that your home has poor air quality if you’ve noticed low air movement, if there’s a stale or stuffy feeling, if there are strange odors, or worst of all, if there is visible mold.

Many factors can contribute to poor air quality in a home. If your air conditioning system has a moisture drip tray, this should be emptied and cleaned regularly, along with the filters. Smoking indoors or regular use of strong chemicals can cause lingering issues. If your heating system includes a fireplace or wood-burning stove that is poorly ventilated, this can cause trouble as well.
