With the current state of the economy, we could all use advice on how to cut back on our expenses. We’ve picked up a number of tips for saving money while shopping for groceries, and we’d like to share them with you.

First, think about where you buy groceries. Is it possible to take advantage of wholesale pricing? If you can’t use all of the items you buy in bulk, you could split the purchase with another family. Or, maybe you could make an effort to shop at discount chains.

Second, think about what groceries you buy. For example, store brands or generic brands are often considerably cheaper for nearly identical quality as more popular brands. Also, buying pantry items instead of items that require less preparation or that expire more quickly can be helpful, since pantry items are usually much cheaper and last a lot longer than other items.
