If you pay for the energy used in your home or business, you’re likely aware that according to some estimates, about 70% of energy loss happens through doors and windows. To help reduce that number, some property owners have decided to install Low-E windows.
What are Low-E windows? Well, the “E” stands for emissivity. As you can probably deduce by the name, this type of window is especially effective at keeping energy where it belongs. While Low-E windows do not reduce the amount of light that comes into the building, they do block ultraviolet and infrared light – keeping the outside temperature outside, and the inside temperature inside. While the purchase and installation for Low-E windows may be somewhat costly, you may end up saving money over time. Since there are different types of coatings available, you’ll want to determine which type is best for your building, so be sure to do some more research.
