Trees can be an extremely valuable part of a homeowner’s property. Besides the natural benefits of trees, like shade and oxygen, trees also provide curb appeal, adding to the financial value of your home.
However, they can also present some dangers. Damaged branches bring the danger of falling on passersby or damaging your home. Gutters clogged with leaves can be a fire hazard. Old, dying trees can fall in good weather or bad. Fast-growing roots can damage sidewalks or foundations.
For these and other reasons, it’s recommended to take some time to examine the trees on your property. Check for trees with hollow trunks, or those that are leaning a bit too much. Check for low-hanging or cracked branches. If there are branches overgrowing power lines, make sure to hire a professional to trim or remove them, and never attempt to do this kind of work for yourself, since it can be extremely dangerous.
