Caring for a property that is occupied by tenants is a serious responsibility. Taking good care of your tenants is not just important because they are a source of income, but it’s also a legal and moral responsibility. For these and many other reasons, it’s highly recommended to take some time now and then to walk around your rental property and proactively address potential issues.
Naturally, you’ll want to pay special attention to potential safety hazards. Of course, we want our rental properties to look good, and your tenants will undoubtedly appreciate that, but the first thing we should always do is ensure that we’re providing a safe and secure environment for our tenants.
For example, is there anything blocking walkways, stairways, or entrances and exits? Is there uneven concrete or pavement? Are there damaged tree branches? Is there adequate exterior lighting? Looking out for things like these is an effective way to take good care of your tenants.
